Why Compliance Matters

Hong Kong exhibition venues have extremely stringent safety requirements. Non-compliance can result in delayed move-in, fines, or even booth dismantling. Understanding these requirements is essential for a smooth exhibition experience.

FS251 — Fire-rated Materials Certification

All custom booth materials must be certified fire-rated per Fire Services Department standards (FS251). This includes:

  • Wood panels and timber structures
  • Fabric and decorative materials
  • Carpet and floor coverings
  • Foam and padding materials
  • Any synthetic decorative elements

Aplus Exhibition ensures all materials we use are FS251 certified. We handle the certification documentation for you.

RPE — Structural Safety Declaration

Any booth structure exceeding 2.5 meters in height requires a Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) to certify its structural safety. This applies to:

  • Multi-level / two-story booths
  • Tall display walls and arches
  • Suspended structures and hanging elements
  • LED wall support frames
  • Complex roof structures
RPE Process: Submit Structural Drawings → Engineer Review → Calculations & Certification → Venue Approval → On-site Inspection → Final Sign-off

WR1 — Electrical Certificate

All electrical work in your booth must be certified with a WR1 (Certificate of Electrical Work Completion) by a registered electrical worker.

Additional Compliance Requirements

  • Public Liability Insurance (mandatory)
  • Booth plan submission to venue management
  • Contractor registration with exhibition organizer
  • Waste management plan
  • Emergency exit clearance
